IDL originated as part of the CORBA specification and is now a standalone OMG specification. Technologies such as DDS, UCM, and LwCCM reuse IDL.
Modern language mappings enable developers to implement applications in their preferred programming language. Through its involvement in the OMG, Remedy IT has contributed to the standardization of the IDL to C++11 and IDL to Ruby language mappings.
